Residents and staff at Riverside View Care Home in Darlington were overjoyed to welcome The Worshipful The Mayor of Darlington, Bob Donoghue, and his wife, Mayoress Mag Donoghue, for a special Christmas event. The Mayor and Mayoress joined the Riverside View family to help decorate the home’s Christmas tree, bringing a generous helping of festive cheer.
The highlight of the event was the residents’ opportunity to create and hang personal Christmas messages on the tree. Each note carried heartfelt holiday wishes, and even the Mayor added his own message, making the moment truly special. The Christmas tree, adorned with these meaningful contributions, became a centerpiece of holiday joy.
Regional Manager Sharon Smith expressed her delight about the visit, saying, “This was a real treat for the residents who love to feel part of the community. Coming together to finish the tree and read the messages is a Christmas present they won’t forget.”
After decorating the tree, the Mayor and Mayoress took the time to join residents for refreshments, chatting warmly with the care team and making everyone feel valued. Their thoughtful involvement in the celebration added an extra sparkle to an already magical day.
Home Manager Michelle Szczesniak reflected on the impact of the visit: “The residents were thrilled to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress, and so were the staff. It’s fantastic to see Riverside View on the map! The visit brought everyone closer together in the spirit of the season.”
This festive event is just one of the many ways Riverside View fosters a sense of community and joy for its residents. From creating cherished memories to hosting meaningful interactions, the care home is dedicated to making every day feel special—especially during the holidays.
